The nearside front uj on on the xj failed whilst in cornwall. i.e grab driveshaft and measure the play when moved, this then remained intact for the epic journey home.
question is before i look at it indepthly is this an easy fix apart from needing a press to get the spider out, or is it worthwhile juncking the axle and uj and source an uprated driveshaft from the states without spending a stupid amount of money.
any web links will be apreciated

replace the uj, got mine from lighthouse or the states if you can wait a few days
this is for a Tj, but basically the same

i have already got a few uj's just wondered if it was worth it upgrading for something a bit more beefy, is it "safe" LOL to assume DANA 30 items are interchangeable ????

I can’t really help you about the inter-changeability, but when I ordered my replacements from Lighthouse, I recall they offered me three options; cheap shit ones which were ok for just road use, greaseable ones which were not as strong as the original Spicer ones or the original non-greaseable Spicer ones. I went for the non-greaseable Spicer ones.

just replace with a spicer unit, as ptp says.
how many miles has the xj done 100k+, its probably the original, do tother side too, while your there
