The original wheels on my TJ have become rusty on both the outer face and also on the inner side resulting in two leaking valves over the last 12 months. And they are all starting to look a bit shitty.
Here is a photo of what I’m on about:

Rather than all the logistical hassle of getting mine stripped down and refinished etc, I’ve managed to acquire 5 new steels which I’m due to pick up later today.
In an effort to try and provide some extra protection to these new wheels, does anyone know the best way to give them a decent quality finish which won’t rust?
The spare wheel has had some extra paint applied by a previous owner, whilst it’s obviously protected the wheel from rust to some degree; it has gone all crazed and presumably was the wrong paint. Here is another photo of what I on about:

Any recommendations?

not easy without stripping the wheel.
Personally I would shot blast and either powder coat them or etch prime and epoxy paint them
-
the going rate round here is about 20 quid to have all the tyres removed, and about 40 pounds per wheel for blasting and powder coating, in my opinion this is the only option for a proper job that will last.

I now have 5 new wheels like this:

I bought them via ebay from this seller who still has 5 new wheels to sell - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160273333248&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123)
So, is powder coat or spraying the way to go?
-
powdercoating is the best way to go . it will last the longest

yup

Thanks for all the input.
I'll check out the powdercoating option.
Can aoyone recommend a good company to try in the West Midlands?
