Whilst I’ve never looked at having anything like this done, I would think the cost of refinishing the letters would be a lot more expensive than replacing them with new ones. I would only resort to refinishing on older and hard to find parts.

Years ago, I used to use Autosol for cleaning chrome on cars when chrome was chrome!

I’m sure most car accessory shops will sell it and in my opinion, it’s the best you can get!

It's made from chrome covered squashy clear plastic. Look on Ebay, they come up there sometimes, otherwise it's a main dealer part and they are quite dear.

Stick 0.010" thick 'Speed Tape' over the old letters, rub firmly and then carefully cut round the characters with a scalpel.
Looks reasonable and if it tears off you just redo it!
I did a complete Saab 9000 grille once and you could hardly tell it wasn't the real McCoy, dead cheap too!

erm, no

That one needed a temp repair involving an effin big patch and a bag full of cherries, and a one way ticket to Cologne for a permy fix.
