I am looking for my forst Cherrokee...
I know of a 1997 Cherokee Limited 4.0 with LPG for sale.
121361 miles on the clock.
The seller says there are a few probs,
1, the bonet cant be opened because the catch is broken.
2, the engine overheats in traffic. He has replaced the thermo, but suspectsdue to the age of the car that its the radiator thats gubed.
I was wondering if anyone knew how much it would cost (roughly) to get those things repaired.
Just to see if its a bargain or a waste of money!
-
how much is he asking?
-
Dont touch it. Plenty of cheap ones out there without problems.

I'd go round and have a look before bidding to check on rust and give it a test drive.
How much I'd bid would depend on how much the repairs would cost and what I thought of it once I saw it.
I know there are ones out there with no problems, but I dont mind doing a bit of work if the cost is right.

Dont 4get it has an underbody gas tank which will probs be quite low (from what i have seen on other xj,s) and you might have a few problems with it catching stuff when froading .....and as far as overheating, well yeah it could be a radiator,or it could be a blown head gasket.........get it sniff tested b4 you part with your ££££,s
-
Very unusual to overheat with gas conversion (this actually helps with the cooling
Have one same age on gas which never overheats (apart from when I was being silly at Cheapfest on Sat )
I just couldnt stop .

Underbody gas-tank on mine, no problem when offroading and I'd rather have the boot space free
-
If I get one with a gas conversion, Id have to go for the underbody tank. I need the boot space for my dog.
If it became an issue with offroading, I would look into underbody protection if available.
Damned if Im lettin her mucky paws get on my leather upholstery!
The maroon one is waaaay more than I wana be paying for a car at the moment. I'm lookin to spend around a grand, less preferably!
I think I am gona have to leave the black one... I dont know enough about engines to be able to tell if its a radiator prob or a gasket prob.
Allthough I want a cheap Jeep, I dont one thats gona fall apart after 5 mins!
Thanks guys!
