Title: 1996 2.5 TD Starting problem
Post by: Andypandy on September 28, 2008, 07:16:01 PM
Hi.Just Bought 2.5 td Cherokee 1996 as a non runner, was supposed to be a immobiliser fault. have got immobiliser working(I think) and the engine is turning over but not firing and I have found there is no fuel getting to the injectors but plenty at filter, any suggestions and what is the live wire to the injector pump to run a live to to check if ommobiliser is off.
Thanks Andy

The injector pump pulls the fuel through the filter (not a pump in the tank) - so if there is fuel coming to the filter then the pump is pulling it - it also recirculates excess fuel back to the tank.

Is there any going to the injectors? - may need to loosen a feed to an injector to check - but be careful of high pressure fuel

if there were no air leaks to allow the fuel to run back there would still be fuel present at the filter if there were a pump selonoid problem could it not be a problem with tthe master injector isnt there one with a wire on it

There is no fuel at the injectors and I  also thought it could be fuel cut off but was hoping someone could post diagram of fuel circuit so I can check wiring.

the fuel cut out is just a switched 12volt supply from the starter circuit so when you key off the fuel is cut. what you could do is just run a 12v supply from somewhere (battery) and then see if you have fuel at the injectors

Thanks for all the advice, after stripping out a really crappy fitting of a Meta Alarm it turns out the previous owner had changed fuel filter and hadn't cleaned sediment bowl and system was full of air so now running.
Once again Thanks, speak to you all shortly.

it's great when the solution is something as simple as a blocked filter bowl
