Title: MOT problem
Post by: Anonymous on July 21, 2005, 01:49:12 PM
Bugger

Jeeps failed MOT due to the stabiliser bar link coming out of the top rubber housing

Any advice needed as to a fix

Thanks

Stew

Do you mean where the end of the anti-roll bar is fixed to the bar that connects to the axle (The bit you'd remove to fit a disconnect).

If you do, you could just take the whole lot off (including the anti-roll bar) for the m.o.t.

You don't have to have one, but if you do it must be in good condition!

Just remember to take it easy on the corners!!!!!

What Im thinking of doing is trying to jack the passenger side up to give some space to put it back in place than drop the Jeep back down and jack the drivers side up to try and force it back into place

Well thats my theory anyway?

Stew

either you have confused me completely or I don't think your idea would work  :? .  If you jack one side or other of the Jeep then you will load the joints not unload them.  The low side joint would be in compression and the lifted side in tension, with the torsion bar section causing this.  This is the principle behind a sway bar, it will be unloaded when the chassis and axle are parallel.

mmmh don't think my explanation is any easier to understand than Stew's idea
