Got around to converting full door hinges to half door hinges

Had a proof print on Birtys badge, and seeing as the Isuzu has been to more Birty events than the CJ7 it got the first sticker

Cooooool
Do like them half doors 8-)
-
Nice job dudester, are they home made or factory stuff.
I made my half doors by cutting some full size doors down, ripped out the glass chopped the frames of and did a bit of fabrication.
One door turned out really goog the other not so good, so now im thinking of taking a mold of them and making them from glass or carbon ill have to see how the spondoolies go.

Doors came from the great Bubbas back yard
but they look after market or very good home made, basically an outer skin with a pocket to make them rigid.
as to glass fibre doors, I spent 18 years in composites, making everything from fairground rides, car body kits, windmills, F1 cars, spy drones and weapons, I apprenticed at DeHavilands (BAe Weapons Composite Research) Hatfield, so as long as I'm not on holiday at one of her majesty’s holiday camps after xmas will be happy to help with moulds, frames etc just let me know if you need anything,

they are warior copys as he says very basic but rugged unless you have todlers up front on the trail i dont like half doors its kinda not one thing or the other if i want to see better i roll the window down if its damn hot i take the door off simple
-
first thought is overkill, if you want a stable paintable structure, I would go for an outer 8 lams of 600g eglass (glass/nickel weave) 6mm nomex and 4 lam inner skin poted where any bolts need to go, would be plenty strong enough and about a third the cost of carbon, The tricky bit will be if you want to fit rubber seals, you will either need a multi part mould to form a return or a bonded flange which might look messy

Yea you could save quite a few pounds but it's still a 2.5 ton wagon so what’s the point  .
I just think people go over the top some times and that includes me, I am probable worse than most just cos I can

carbon kevlar weave would have looked better
-
Yeah i must admit, your right, i guess i like the fact that doing stuff thats a bit different gives me a buzz.
Like you ive done my share of pattern making, mould making, mainly in grp but weve starting to play with carbon so if i can do it myself i will. I dont like paying for anything i could possibly make myself.
