What grade oil are people putting in high (150k+) mile 4litre engines?

Why the question mon..??

Would have thought the oil thats specified for the engine...or preferred options..know that there alternative oils for GC I6 engines as I posted before...IMHO maybe change the oil every 3K

Mobil have a 10w40 higer mileage oil I think I saw the other day in Halfords and they have 20% off Mobil oils at the moment. Saying that I just got the Mobil semi-synthetic 'Super-S' (10w40) for mine with 125k on the clock. I don't think it needs any different, it doesn't use any and I change it every 4-5K miles (lots of road miles so that's quite frequent changes).

If at all possible, check out your nearest Makro Cash and Carry store.  You need to be a member to get in and buy stuff, but the Castrol Magnatec is selling for about 18 quid for 4 litres as apposed to 25 + at the local auto store.  They got loads of other stuff there too.
