sometimes they drop out, sometimes they can be a b*tch, I have done one with big sockets and a clamp (with a bit of heat)
-
This clamp then...what type is it?
How long should the job take
How much would it be at a dealer???

Whilst this is for a different axle, have a look here: http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/balljoi ... oint-2.htm (http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/balljoint/balljoint-2.htm)
I have one of the clamps if you;re local to Stourbridge!

Where are you based????
-

YOu don't need to take the axle out, just pull the driveshaft out. I used a G clamp & big sockets to remove mine, no special tools.
-
done a couple of those.
Pull out driveshaft and then use the tool to press out the balljoint
beware they are in tight,i ended up on my arse when i had a breaker bar and pallet post on mine to get the leverage. When it give up i went flying
use the press to put it back in, then slide shaft back in taking care not to push any crap past the seal.
good luck
