Title: ZG alarm problem
Post by: Bishops Finger on November 26, 2008, 10:02:58 PM
Tried both remotes on the ZG this morning....no reaction from the Jeep from either.....the one I usually use has needed a few presses to get the Jeep to unlock of late..

Bought new batteries 2016 spec..still no reaction

Jeep unlocks and alarm kicks off for a few minutes..

Disconnected Negative on battery and seconds later alarm kicked off with a different tone which stopped when negative lead put back on..

Any constructive suggestions...

not sure alarm is the same as a TJ but have a look here. Pete posted some stuff to try, did not work for me, but good luck

No unusual flasing warning lights

Alarm stays on if I try to start the Jeep and it won't even turn over

Battery reading on dash is 1/4 when I turn the ignition on...not too different from the Wrangler

When the alarm stops if I try and start the Jeep..it wont turn and alarm starts again...

Checked new batteries...OK

I know this sound silly and Im not trying to be condecending but

Have you checked your earth connection and is there a break in the earth lead.

Will give enough power for everything but starting if you have a problem.

Sounds like Jeep alarm siren module disease.

Reather in desperate need of a wiring diagram for the 3 multiplugs that go to a control box under the dash as well as needing to know if this control box can either be relaced and will just work or would need to be synchronised

Replacements are plug'nplay. The black box is the body control module, the metal one above it is the alarm module, but it is usually the siren under the bonnet that f**ks the system up.

It's the module that controls all the electrics for the body like wipers, lighting etc.

Post by: Bishops Finger on December 24, 2008, 07:02:49 PM
Oh its back...and I quote
No RKE function

removed PCM and alarm siren stripped out the siren dried out water ingress rebuilt and refitted Traced all the power and the grounds from the BCM and ACM followed the wiring and found a poor connector, stripped down, rectified and rebuilt......

Was working Ok enough to pass MOT and be driven back here..............

Tried it last night...same problem..advised to disconnect battery for 2-3 hours.................... ](*,)  ](*,)  ](*,)  ](*,)
Title:
Post by: Mike Pavelin on December 25, 2008, 09:13:00 AM
Told you the siren was f*c*ed on November 28th...............

The remotes communicate with the drivers door module which is part of the electric window switch pack. This can get spiked by the central locking motor and freeze causing all sorts of electrical problems. Unplug it for a few seconds or disconnect the battery briefly and it'll reboot.

Apart from Lighthouse or Mansfield 4x4 any suggestions where to locate a body control module for a 98 GC Larado?

GT 4x4 or Furbers have been mentioned already...
