Title: Air con not working

The air con on my 2000 2.5td Cherokee has never worked since I've had it. I don't even know if it needs regassing as the compressor doesn't kick in when the dial in the the cab is turned to air con.
Fuses okay and no obvious wires hanging off or damage to components
Before I go spending money to have it looked at does anybody know of any common faults with this system?

If there isn't enough pressure in the system it wont switch the compressor on. Take it to Kwik-Fit.Cheapest place to get it checked.

I had this problem with my 01XJ.  Got it regassed and it's worked ever since.
