My newly acquired XJ currently sports tinted windows all round and the plan was to remove them myself. After a little reading up I really don't fancy the task at hand and I'll settle for all glass behind the B pillar to remain tinted.
There appear to be plenty of XJs being broken so I thought it would be a good idea to just replace the glass in the front doors. Question is: Has anyone done this before and it is a straightforward task?
Thanks

Excellent, thanks!

Front windows legally can't have more than a 30% tint, that's including the factory fitted tint on the glass already.
-
make sure they dont just have film on them, if they do you can just peel it off
-
Yeah it's definitely got the film on them and it looks to have been a professional job, hence the reluctance to deal with the sticky gunge that will be left after peeling.
I guess if I'm willing to take the glass out I really should just go the extra yard and start peeling and 'scraping'...
-
Use a hairdryer to get it warm and then peel it off, it will come off leaving very little goo if any at all
-
just use thinners to get the sticky stuff off

I had some leaded windows when I moved in
Bought some plastic cleaner from one of these places that sell all the trim
for you conservatory and the glue came off straight away
