Title: Cooling question
Post by: keatsie on February 03, 2009, 06:27:45 PM
This may be a bit picky but I thought I would check.

The temperature needle on the car goes to just over the line at 100, then drops just below and then seems to pulse between either side of the line at 100 degrees. I am used to the temperature gauge on my other cars being stationary.

Is this symptomatic of something or am I just being picky?

Advice appreciated as always.

It's the electric fan kicking in, which lowers it below 100. The fan stops once it it's cool, and the cycle repeats, so you see it going up and down.

As long as the fan is kicking in then don't worry. If it gets too hot a warning sounds and a 'check gauges' lights comes up. There's no problem with it running 95-105.

Mine is rock steady once up to temp, could be the start of a sticking thermostat
