Hi, seems like it should be easy but I've heard the stories about people trying to enter their codes and being locked out.
I've a 1997 Grand Cherokee, 4.0 LTD
I have the radio code but am not sure how to enter it, it's not in the manual and I've not tried anything yet. If Someone knows I'd be much obliged.

Have you got a standard Jeep fitted radio ?
Would be good to know before offering advise

Sorry, yes standard jeep radio fitted (original).

I know in my 2000 XJ and 2001 TJ, I had to enter the code using the radio preset buttons (numbered 1 to 5).
From the current manual:
Turn on power with the key (ON or ACC position), then turn on the radio.
CODE should appear on the display.
Enter the 4 digit code by pressing the appropriate preset buttons in sequence.
If an invalid code is entered, the radio will allow 2 more attempts. Once locked-up, the battery must remain connected and the radio left on (WAIT should be on the display) for approximately 30 mins, before CODE appears.
Hopefully it should be a similar procedure.
Just checked the older instrution manual and the waiting time is approx 2 hours!

Thanks. Yes I was a little over concerned. It was as easy as putting in the code and all is well. I had heard stories of things going wrong and specific ways of doing things, but once again the Americans make it real easy, nice.
Thanks for the advice.
