Title: CJ7: front diff ident
Post by: Nosebolt on February 26, 2009, 11:23:42 AM
Is it possible that I have a Dana 44 front axle? From what I have read it should be a D30 but the oil filler hole is too low according to the ident chart I have.

Reason I ask is I have bought a diff guard for a D30 and it don’t fit by a good ½”

Ok I have taken off the cover and cleaned it up so I can measure it up and I am pretty sure it is a D30 but possibly with an after market cover.

The guard that was sold as a D30 isn’t. I recon it’s a D44 by the shape but I stand to be corrected.

If anyone does want it, I only paid £21 for it on eBay and if anyone wants it for that let me know.
