Title: Droning
Post by: captain cavalier on March 19, 2009, 03:39:06 PM
4 litre facelift cherokee

I have had a doning under heavy acceleration or steep inclines

Tends to die off when less torque is required

After a diagnosis the noise has probably been narrowed down to my transfer case

this noise did not seem to start until I replaced my exhaust which is what I thought that was original problem

When I replaced my exhaust I had to reweld the bracket on the front pipe directly before the CAT

This locates into a rubber mounting which is riveted onto the transfer case mounting

(I have drained the transfer box, the fluid looked ok but I did replace it)

Any ideas

probably the exhaust has nothing to do with it only pure coincidence. if you have a droning under load and none when driving normally then it would lead to a driveline issue. maybe a bearing starting to fail, but where is going to be the question.
