had a minor issue with the front prop on Sunday, took it back today and didnt need to say a word, just put it on the counter and the bloke looked at it and said "ah it broke in the weld" then went on to explain how they run a weld to srink one side to straighten it up etc, and ended with "spose we will have to replace it" after a small chat now getting 2" tube.

My eyes....
-
yup stronger one required
-
looks a bit flimsy if thats the two parts of it

yep, it was original 1 1/4" prop, shortened, with the larger cherry spline fitted, getting re-tubed in 2" now.
TBH it was the one part that I had to comprimise on, not enough time or cash to get what I wanted built, could only afford a repair (new spline) in time for the weekend. This retube should last for a while as long as I stop trying to move unmovable objects

just remember to pull pete out before he has his dinner next time......

 yeh just give it beans you will get through
was fun mate.

Got the prop back today, went with 1 1/2" dia with 1/4" wall thickness HD UJ's and a Cherokee spline, recon it will split the yoke before this one breaks
-
tis a bit thick that one
-
yup. you will now kill uj's or hub fuses but they are cheaper.
-
I had a look at fitting prop today and noticed an oil leak from the front diff pinion seal so have ordered seal and nut for tomorrow, have also got sump and rear main seal to do, looks like another weekend on my back, and not in the good way
-
wot that mod costin ya approx please NB?
-
if your talking about the prop, that was done for cost of a re-balance as they too the blame for it being weakened when spline was fitted.
if you mean the diff seal and nut was only a few quid, from memory less than a tenner and about 2 hrs to do the work
-
cheers dood, was the prop question, answer doesnt help :003: but cheers anyway
-
rear prop ended up cosing almost £600 with new yoke for the d300, double cardon and extra dia and length spline, front was costed at £450ish but ended up using the cherry spline and tube upgrade
-
:icon_eek: rethink req then :011:
cheers dood :icon_biggrin:
-
I did go over the top a bit, could half the cost with a bit of compromise, I just wanted to get it totaly bullet proof
-
you went a fair bit over the top dood but at least it will only cost once with those props
