Hi I'm new to this forum so please excuse me if this has already been answered.
I have had my Grand Cheeroke since new in March 2006. Since then i've always been disappointed with the fuel economy, the dealer told me it would improve with age, but no real improvement has occurred. According to the onboard computer i get 20 mpg around town and a long trip (over 100miles) i can average 30 mpg when i tickle it. Has anyone had their jeep remapped and if so has this improved economy. The performance by the way is fantastic, it doesn't need to be any quicker

So, is relying on the onboard PC the only way you have calculated your MPG?
Crunch the numbers against fuel actually used,it's the only way...
-
, the dealer told me it would improve with age,
Why did it make me laugh?
I zero my mileage clock after a fill up and keep the receipts of all fill-ups after until I have 3 or so and work out what the real mileage is.
-
I have checked it manually and its pretty acurate on a full tank
-
jeep diesels have never been much better than the petrol version for mpg, what you are getting is pretty typical I would think personally.
-
It's a Jeep.......
It isn't meant to be economical
-
I seem to remember my 2.8CRD KJ factory mpg was meant to be 28mpg ave but only gave 22, jeep are vastly optomistic in its mpg claims

1 Imperial gallon = 1.20095042 US gallons
US gallons are different thats why
-
Worked out mpg from fill ups, if Jeep used US mpg in thier paperwork that would make them a bigger lier
-
The MPg figures are as quoted in the UK motoring press from their own testing, apparently the cars do vary from car to car according to What Car. Has anyone tried remapping?

Not on later models. If the body control module is set for Europe it calculates inperial gallons, not US.

My KJ 2.5 CRD and WH 3.0 CRD both used to give around 24 on average and could be tickled up to 30 on a long run if very careful. My JK CRD is about the same.
