.........so was thinking of all blacks BUT do I need to wet/dry them first to get rid of all the old lacquer...or can they be painted and then re-lacquered...
Thanks!!

depends, how bling you want them to look

I just jet washed off all the loose and then used soap and water with scotchbrite to key the surface, then painted them (badly).

Then drove through mud and not seen the paint since

mmmmm did not match any documents....

nevermind, i just thought since they were coming off I could just have done with `em and paint them all black.

1cm bigger wheels wont get me much further than sticky puddles....
slow and steady wins the race

You have to strip them back to the alloy 'cause the corrosion creeps under the laquer. If you just paint over it the corrosion will continue and the paint'll fall off.

need to get em bead blasted and etch primed & painted, costs around £40-50 a wheel round here, keep an eye on ebay for people selling off unused spares/good condition wheels as it can work out cheaper to get new wheels

hi, yeah i missed some weeks ago, 5 for 30squids bummer
anyway, picked em up today and my mindian friends put them on for £20 with help from me + rob!
took less than 1/2 an hour, forgot they did tyres where i get lpg in Walsall

stuff the wheels, if I get bigger ones and lift it (next year, the year after.... ) i`ll bin em anyway
doubt we will hill n ditch tomorow, there`ll be other times...

Pro wheel refurbing is expensive; only worth doing if you have something rare.

Similar Issue:
My Fiat has a large cast alloy filler cap; water lifted the laquer (as it does on alloys); the tried & tested solution is to remove it & strip it with nitromors; this shifts the lacquer; you then lightly polish it & all good. It worked fine for me.

So maybe you could scale it up & do your rims (prob best to take the tyres off). Youll be left without lacquer but hey who needs it; my MT Classics are unfinished, you just need to keep on top of the salt deposits in the winter.

i`m on that Batman!

but I just can`t help picking the lacquer off, its like picking at scabs, i`m terrible for it
I`ll get the worst off and then do one at a time, it`ll look a mess but it does already
haha

Been told that paint stripper (keep away from anything which might be casutic soda based) works wonders on alloys, then a quick sand, a wiff of paint and a finish with some laquer.
