Hi guys, my old TJ 97 has been in my local garage for 3 months after what seemed like a radiator issue. The garage is now saying one of the core plugs in the cylinder head is shot (and can't be re-bored), so I need to replace the cylinder head. I'm not happy it's taken 3 months for them to diagnose the problem, so can anyone recommend a Jeep specialist in Essex or Hertfordshire  (preferably near Waltham Abbey/Harlow). I'm looking to sell my TJ - which has been so much fun for the last 10 years - and just need to figure out cost implications......do I repalce the cylinder head then sell, or just sell it as-is to a Jeep fan who is handy with a spanner?

Hi all

Have a little question, I was putting in a new head gasket, and I noticed that the fuel injector with the sensor wire was actually in cylinder number 2 and not cylinder number 1, it must've been like that for years, as I've had the jeep for 8 years and I've never moved it. My question is, does this cause any issues and should I move it?

A branded kit would probably cost hundreds so any cheap chinese copy that has the angled 4wd adapter would do the job. Get it good and tight then smack the end of the knuckle with a BFH. Try with just a normal ratchet to get it tight and if it won't break free move on to a strong arm. If they've been in for a long time the first movement will come with almighty bang. After that it will get easier.

Anything like this will do...

Here's a Lisle branded one...

Hi
Thanks for the info i will have to check it out and see if its moving or seized up.
Regarding the cause of lost central locking and passenger window operation broken wires seem to be the most common issue if you look on YouTube, but the fuses you mentioned must be a starting point.
I do have a spare door control unit i took from a scrapper a few years ago if the problem is the switches, again seems to be a common problem. I will have to take of the passenger door trim and see anything looks amiss, not so good with electrical things.
List of jobs before winter sets in is getting bigger by the week, change engine oil, replace the anti freeze, power steering oil flush, drivers door hinge pin replacement.
I suppose the jeeps 24 years old now and these things will only become more and more frequent.
Many thanks
Ian
