What have i bust, T/C or front diff?
« on: June 15, 2009, 07:47:23 PM »

Whine from the XJ when in 4x4, whine on acceration but not on coast and a slight vibe when inbetween (v light load on the throttle), thought the front pinion bearing was on the way out until tonight when I turn on a carpark and got some clunks from the front end like transmission wind up, rapid clunk clunk clunk. (would a 2mm difference in tyre size front/rear do this, I know it causes issues going in/out of 4x4)

Now I changed the front diff & transfer case oils in the last 4 weeks both were clean and non metalic (and done around 8k miles) and also changed the front ball joints 2 weeks ago, problem appeared mid last week.

Suppose I will drop the front diff cover at the weekend and see what the score is, could really do without this at the mo
