orange coolant light
« on: May 05, 2009, 07:57:24 PM »

recently had a new radiator fitted and since then the dash orange coolant warning light is on permanent, now the only sensor i think it could be is the one that pops into the plastic water tank/ is there a quick fix?

Tempted just to put a bit of black tape over light and just keep checking levels are good

Check the sensor in the coolant header tank. If it is ok, but there is evidence of coolant being forced out of the pressure cap, you need to investigate further as you may have a cracked cylinder head.

few weeks ago was wierd tho.. engine running sweet all day, next morning started her up.

engine was banging and knocking all over the place, this is 6.30 am.. wakes all the neighbours up 8-)

neighbours dread me going to work tho for some reason

reason for pushrod jumping out is a lazy hydraulic lifter, run an engine flush and change the oil to new and it shoul solve the problem.
when i had mine a just welded some nuts to the rocker arms to stop this.

got it down to 10 mins to pop one back in after it jumped out. hence the added nuts

I had the same problem on my 2.5 diesal....i got rid of the annoying orange light by removing the sensor from the water bottle , then putting a small bit of wire into the connector to complete the circuit and cause the light to go out...This is only a temporary measure till i get a new sensor , and of course i check the water level much more often , and keep an eye on the tempreture , as now i don,t have any warning of low coolant level....
