REPLACING A SERPENTINE BELT.....
« on: August 19, 2009, 07:55:59 AM »

Hi folks....  I have a 1997 2.5 diesal cherokee td ltd , and i have had a bit of a struggle replacing the serpentine belt after a water pump change....I went through all kinds of struggle putting the belt back on , as i don,t have a manual for the vm diesal and don,t know how to back off the tensioner that i found lurking at the bottom of the engine...I wound up taking pulleys off and stuff , and got the belt on after a struggle...Any advice on how to do it the easy way would be appreciated....

use the 1/2" square hole in the tensioner - a ratchet / bar fits in nicely
