TJ Front prop shaft
« on: August 07, 2010, 04:17:20 PM »

In between rain showers, I managed to remove the front prop shaft, although it did not want to come out.

Normally, I just remove the bolts at each end, and compress the shaft to remove it.  Today, it would not compress, and took a lot of effort to remove it.

It seems as if the front and rear sections are glued/welded/rusted together, so I've got no chance of refitting it to the Jeep.  Which means I can't go to Tuff Terrains next weekend, and I might not even be able to bring the TJ to Cheapfest!  I have sprayed the shaft with penetrating oil to see if it frees up overnight, although I suspect the splines might be damaged.  I can't think what I did at Tong which might have caused the problem.

Any ideas where I can either get the shaft refurbished (near to Stoke or Derby), or purchase a replacement (preferably oem non greasable).
