Cherokee XJ 1996 4.0...
Whilst out laning the other night the guide wheel bearing near the alternator failed and started throwing the belt on to the alternator which started to shred it...
We removed the entire pulley wheel and tightened the alternator fully out, this gave enough tension for the water pump, alternator light 'GEN' was on but still managed to limp home in the dark.
New pulley and bearing £21+ delivery and lighthouse not exactly sure if it was the correct part...
The centre bearing can be purchased from a local bearing shop, less than a fiver... part number 6203 RS (RS stands for rubber seal so should last a long time) trim the plastic lip of the inner part of the wheel, then hammer bearing out using a socket of the same size (ish), I put the bearing in the freezer and the pulley wheel in boiling water for a short while before squeezing it all together, some lube (washing up liquid) helped...
Failed one
Putting new one in...
Pulley wheel from a 1993 Cherokee was the same as the 1996 one, even though the belt route/tensioner etc different...

These are Quinton Hazell part numbers, the 6 is the number of ribs (mmm ribs) and then the length in mm, most belts have a tolerance of 5/10mm between the part number and actual length... The pitch of the Cherokee belts is known as PK style.
Hope this all helps, Maf
