Hi All
First post and first Jeep so bare with me so i am a new owner of a 2.5 sport petrol 95 XJ,after sorting the lack of heat a flush of the heat exchanger sorted that, both front driveshaft uj's and some leather seats that came to me cheap i thought it was about time to experiment with the 4WD system which i believe is the command trac (only has part time option) could only test it on paved area which i know shouldn't do but tried it at low speed noticed that driving straight and slight turning all is well however on full lock the front end seems to lock up causing the jeep to come to a halt is this normal or is it because i had it on a dry road? any help or advice would be great this site has been a great source of info already and hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on this issue or maybe its me being a numpty
Also any advice on how to get it to drive past a petrol station would be great too

There's no centre differential so it will wind up on hard surfaces in 4WD, hence part time 4WD.

It's behaving as designed. Mud/gravel is ok, because the wheel can slip on those surfaces, which avoids
wind-up. There's way too much traction on tarmac, and without slip, you're potentially going to damage
a prop, UJ etc.

Take it somewhere there's a gravel car park if you want to try it out.

There should be plenty of wet muddy fields about this time of year , try it there....but don,t go ploughing into three foot deep mire....just in case the four wheel drive is not working...!
