instrument cluster failure 2000 JGC 4.7
« on: November 19, 2010, 02:21:21 AM »

I have a year 2000 jeep grand cherokee 4.7, When i switch key on all is normal, but after starting the power windows stop also overhead dispay freezes also after 1 min of engine running the gauges stop and most of the warning lights come on on dash panel. If i disconect the two small wires on alternator and start car all faults are gone when car isnt charging, The charge is 13.9v. One more thing if i disconect battery for 10 mins the problem goes for a couple of mins then returns.  Have had it to dealer, they replaced BCM, PCM, alternator, several wires, but its still the same.  Any ideas  Thanks

Hello & welcome,

Sounds suspiciously like a problem 'a damsel in distress' last week.

Battery on the way out, or 1 cell in the battery kaput.  But then again I could be wrong. :017:

One of our tech-heads will be along shortly.

Good luck,

Hope you haven't paid the dealer yet. Take it back and leave it there till it's fixed. If they won't do it call Jeep UK customer services.
