Hi All,
On going saga with my wife's 2000 Cherokee 2.5TD, started with a pressurised water jacket so removed heads found no4 cylinder to have corrosion around the top of the liner. I have a new head to go on but before I start to put it all back together I have a niggling feeling that all is not well.
When I rotate the engine by hand the bore of No4 leaves a single trail of oil the whole length of the bore, about 2mm wide, there isn't any scoring in the bore surface.
Could it be..
a. broken ring.
b. all ring gaps happen to be in line.
c. worn bore due to 140k.
d.
??
Is it possable to drop the sump and pull the offending piston out add new rings and put it all back together...??
Cheers
