A Few Questions regarding my '98 TJ
« on: February 18, 2011, 10:43:26 PM »

After my first go at a winch challenge, here are a few things I'm stuck on:

1) My Handbrake is utter tut, I have an SSBC rear disc conversion, I had all my handbrake checked before the event and it couldn't hold a 10p on a hill, is there anything I can do to make it better? I'm gonna try a new handbrake cable and see what happens, my cables are all tight, so it should work, but it doesn't

2) I managed to get it so vertical and leaning over on port that petrol came back up the filler and or vent and leaked out, is there any way to prevent this happening?

3) I've had a hunt round for a mean green alternating machine, couldn't get an answer out of LA supertrux, so I wonder, If I mount another standard TJ alternator and wire it in parallel with the other one will I then have double the input to the batteries with no harm else where?? I am running twin oddyyssey 1700's in parallel

Many Thanks

Will

I've yet to own a Jeep with a usable handbrake.  Mine only get used for the mot.

I've also experienced the problem with petrol leaking out the breather.  There probably is no safe solution, other than don't fill the tank before going offroad or avoid sideslopes.

I've fitted an SSBC kit to a TJ. Handbrake sucks. Make sure the cables are well lubed. I fill them with grease.
