Hello,
I'm new to your site but have had my Jeep in Gloucester for nine years this year and would like to keep it running for as long as possible. its a 1996 Grand Cherokee 4.0 Ltd running Lpg pretty standard with de-cat stainless side exit exhaust and induction kit.
Anyway I came here for advice but today solved the problem with advice from a Jeep mechanic friend so maybe can help someone stuck.
I went to pick up kids parked up no problems got back and tried to start Jeep.....nothing, no gauges no dash lights or chimes. did notice that LED for factory alarm was not lit when arming though central locking from fob worked also noticed my door was open but no interior lights on though they did come on when key turned in ignition. Headlights still worked so knew battery was not totally dead.
Called breakdown recovery who took hour to get there, fair play tried for an hour took apart ignition and an aftermarket immobiliser i have fitted he checked fuses under bonnet did some wiring and got it to start for seconds while starter motor spinning but nothing more so told me its a factory alarm problem and called for relay truck to get me home which took two hours to turn up ! Got home from school run at 8pm pretty p***ed off cos i had to go straight to work nightshift till 7am next morning.

On my mates advice the next day I disconnected the battery for a while and went to check the fuses in the fuseboard that in nine years of owning Jeep I swear did not know exsisted down by the accelorator behind kickboard the last but one fuse i checked was a 20 amp clear coloured fuse for "cluster" and it was blown so swapped it reconnected battery keyfobbed alarm and red LED lit up so was filled with hope put key in ignition  gauges worked after turning key and yes it fired into life so very very happy not sure what caused this but may be useful for someone stuck like myself with very limited fix it knowledge.
 Cheers, Gid.
