diesel colds start mis fire
« on: March 08, 2011, 05:12:52 PM »

i have noticed over the last few days when i do my first start it sounds as if one of my cylinders is not firing correctly, this last a second or two when cranking and she bursts into life and is fine the rest of the day,i replaced the heater plugs around 6 or 7 months ago, this is the first time i have had starting issues in 7 yrs with it,there is no lack in power once she fires up and everything else seems fine, just this cylinder no firing right away.

could it be a faulty heater plug or an injector playing up,if it was an injector i would have thought it would give rough running all the time, just asking around as i am off Thursday and will be having a dig around the engine.

what would be the worst case i could come across,,like i say she runs ok after firing up...just the first few seconds of cranking you know there is something not firing the way it should.

checked it today, looks as if the rear injector  leak off is weeping, may be the leak off plug, as these are made of rubber, the spill pipes are silicon rubber, using veg oil or bio diesel rots the rubber plug over time and it leaks, also acitone attacks the rubber plug over time.

must be air getting into rear fuel pipe/injector giving the thump or one cylinder to firing up right away.
