I VE GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!
« on: March 08, 2011, 09:11:23 PM »

Some time ago i posted on the forum about me struggling to remove a stuck oil filter, i basically lost the plot and tore it to pieces then had to chisel the remains from the engine block and in doing so snapped off the oil pressure sensor/sender
Well this time i bought an "oil filter removal tool".....dropped oil, added flushing oil and a can of wynns engine flush..dropped oil once more got the "oil filter removal tool".....onto the filter and....snap!!!! of comes sensor again...
now the problem for me seems to be that said sensor/sender is very close to the oil filter i am attempting to remove so how does anyone elsemanage to do it without spending another £40 to replace the part everytime i service this bloody Jeep????

Please?

Would it be possible to remove the sensor before attempting to remove the filter?

I know it means more work but if you are going to have to remove it anyway after you have broken it..........

:icon_redface: surely i'm not the only one that uses the hillbilly "oil filter removal tool"?  :icon_redface:

Anything more than hand tight gets an old screwdriver hammered through it to use as a lever.  If you pull the driver out a bit you can even drain the oil out of it before you remove it.

Mr S - that was the only way I could change the filter on my first car (mk2 fiesta). Never heard it called that before, but I like it!

A tip i picked up was get some self adhesive rough sand paper and stick this round the oil filter I found I can get off the filter by hand with the extra grip or get better grip for any tool.
