The gear box dipstick tube on my Cherokee rattles against the coolant header tank when the engine is idling. Once on the move the rattle goes away presumably because the slight vibration at idle smooths out as the revs rise. At rest the dipstick tube is touching the header tank and I'm wondering is the tube something that can be bent slightly, or can it be turned (or twisted) to move it slightly away from the header tank. I've tried bending it without success but don't at the moment have any tools to grip it firmly enough to try twisting it. I'm thinking of replacing the header tank anyway as it's badly discoloured so perhaps doing that and adjusting its mounting location might do the trick.
But in the meantime, has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it?
