XJ Auto box into a ZJ?
« on: October 26, 2011, 01:20:06 PM »

Is it possible?

Stupid question time!
My gearbox is playing up ('98 4.0 ZJ) and is due to be looked at next week, so I'm already looking into a used replacement prices.
Then i thought since i want to change the 249 for a 242 at some point it would make sense (in my tiny noob mind) to swap the box and TC in one go save any potential issues with compatability.
One word answers accepted and expected  :icon_biggrin:
Thanks

XJ autobox has it's own brain and I believe is wired into the vehicle ECU to some extent - may not be straightforward to swap or you may have to source a compatible ECU from the US where I think there are some more options on engine / box setups.

It's not worth the hassle. Unless you're an electrical genius, you'll never get it to work.
