XJ oil on block
« on: October 25, 2012, 04:49:09 PM »

Out of boredom I've been poking my head about under the bonnet of the XJ.

Down the driver's side of the block, below the head/block joint, there's evidence of oil seepage. I think it's been there for ages, as it's fairly dry and sticky, but it doesn't look like it's come from the valve cover.
Just to check, is that fairly normal?? It runs perfectly, never even stutters etc, I'm just curious, as ever. :003:

i'd be surprised if there wasnt oil. Wipe it clean and see if it reappears.

Ask Dutch about his oil leak.....

Awesome, thank you. I wasn't concerned; I just thought I ought to check in case I should be!

Yep, I knew Dutch's CJ leaked oil - I think it adds to the character! :icon_super:

Leaked ....leaked  :ecomcity:

Just a drip from the crank bearing  :icon_winkle:

Aren't you supposed to be studying or something  :017: instead of hunting XJ's and having your head in places it shouldn't be  :hysterical:

Of course, of course, it's hardly a dribble :icon_winkle:

I do plenty of studying thank you very much; besides trying to learn all of the different axles, axle ratios, year-by-year changes, common problems, fixes, and generally how an XJ works, as well as checking out every Jeep on eBay and generally tinkering (may I just add that that's the ONLY place my head shouldn't have been! :hysterical:), I've actually done some stuff that's relevant to my course too!! :003:
