WJ tune up
« on: March 18, 2012, 03:43:34 PM »

Had a major missfire the other night after a foot down overtake and the V8 sounded like it was running on 2 cylinders, probably not but i defo need to get it tuned up

Question is does the LPG system need a separate tune up to the standard petrol system, also wondering if the injectors need replacing, the issue mentioned above occured for 5 mins and cleared itself, running sweet again although i do get some popping on the over run, which i kinda like but not sure she is meant to  :017:

While reading up on 4.7 HO and LPG i did read that injectors need regular cleaning when using lpg and must use petrol at least once a week to ensure the injectors don't get blocked up. i also regularly feed my 4.7 HO some forte injector cleaner every three to six months which i does seem to have clear benefits and i would get a couple of bottles of this and add it to 1/4 tank of petrol and run that down before looking at changing injectors. I don't remember any differing tuning needed but alternative sprak plug must be fitted.

lpg systems also need a regular service.

Yep this LPG systems need servicing there is a by prod of LPG called heavy ends a waxy deposit that
builds up in vaporisors etc that needs cleaning out now n then to maintain flow at optimal levels
tanks need to be checked for water buildup and some (most) systems have at least one inline filter
to be swapped out at least once a year.

Nick, first off you not running the H.O Jeep V8 your is normal V8,

Next - have you been using your flash lube as I mention when you were at mine, if you over egg the oil additive it may run a bit lumpy, it is meant to be one drop on fluid for every 6 seconds running at idle.

Also when I had this same problem, and it was not long after I had mine converted to LPG mine had a bloody good service and LPG specific spark plugs fitted, they were not cheap but made a massive difference.

My initial guess would be change the plugs and set up the Flashlube properly.

ran some of the redex injector cleaner through 1/2 a tank, has made a big difference, running sweet, LPG plugs already fitted but yes i need to sort the flash lube to an auto system
