Just won this auction... some of you know I've been wanting a Wrangler as a punch hunt truck since getting the nice green one... Well check this beauty... 33" tyres, so already lifted... proper good tube bumpers, new MoT & Tax...

Does anyone know this Jeep? Cheers Maf

Wheels are a bit gay, but lightweight and easy to clean eh?

Anyone want a set of 33" tyres :o)

don't recognise the truck but I do recognise the wheels :icon_eek:, if you are missing the centre cap from one I may still have one kicking about in the hedge.

Make me an offer... matey claims they've only been on 500 miles... when I get the Jeep I'll have a proper look at them and report their condition  :greggmo:

Shouldn't take long to get 8274 and swampers on for the next event... might even get time for lockers and lower gearing  :icon_super:

Not Good...

Just heard back from HPi... They have checked the insurance records and experian and this Jeep was written off in 2006, DVLA have not updated their stuff...

It is a Cat C DVLA records are wrong... so lesson for all...

Just because it isn't listed on Log book, doesn't mean it isn't a write off (please remember that cat D's are not shown on log book which is wrong IMO).

Mileage was 'adjusted' by 25/30,000 miles naughty... a couple of years ago...

Jeep had lots and lots of advisories not disclosed

Matey kept trying to blag it, saying its an old Jeep no one cares... but he didn't check it through when he bought it and now he was trying to push his clocked and cat C Jeep on to me...

Isn't cat c " can be repaired and put back on the road"? so maybe just beyond economical repair? A lot of US cars are written off due to the cost of importing parts to repair it.
Can you not find out what was the actual damage?

Insurance Loss Categories

* Category A - Must be crushed. All of it.

* Category B - Vehicle may not be returned to road but parts may be sold.

* Category C - Repairable. Significant damage. Cost of the repair is more than book value of vehicle at dealer rates.

* Category D - Repairable. Probably non-structural damage. May have been economic to repair, but insurer doesn't want to.

* Category X - Repairable. Minor Damage

Insurance Loss Categories - In detail

Category A.......The vehicle may not be resold it must be crushed. Severely damaged, total burnout or flood damage with no serviceable parts, or already a stripped out shell. DVLA will require a Notification of Destruction.

Category B......The vehicle may not be resold. It will have been damaged beyond economical repair, usually with major structural damage. The DVLA will require Notification of Destruction but parts can be removed and sold on.

Category C......Repairable salvage. Usually applies to vehicles with significant damage and where the cost of repairs exceeds the book value. It can be sold for repair but must have VIC(Vehicle Identity Check) inspection before returning to the road. V5 documents are returned to DVLA and recorded as category C vehicles. You can re-apply for registration on the original identity once the VIC inspection has been done. VIC inspection and re-registration removes the Category C classification, but evidence it was at one time Category C remains on the vehicle's record at the DVLA and so will appear on a vehicle data check.

Category D......Repairable salvage. Minimal damage, probably not structural, but insurer does not want to repair, even though it might be economic to do so. Often stolen and recovered after claim has been paid. Or it maybe a vehicle where parts are difficult to obtain so a quick repair is unlikely. Does not need VIC inspection to return to road. Notification will appear in your vehicle history check

Category X....has been the subject of a claim but minor or very lightly damaged and required minimal repair work. It would not be recorded with the DVLA so would not appear in any Vehicle Data Check

yup I know he is, I had a mitsubishi eclipse classed as a catergory c right off by the insurance company's just because there was a hole punched into the bumper and the corner of the bonnet was bent down, and front bumper mount was bent 1" out of true when tina t' boned a rover 213.
Had a mate who runs a body shop  take a look at it and he said it would need to be pulled straight, bumper could be repaired, and same with bonnet, all in all cost at the time would be about £500 for cash.
Insurance wrote it off due to the cost of importing new parts and would not allow it to be sold back to me...mind you it took them 3 months to decide that and 2 visits to a bodyshop, and I drove it most days with no problem as it never affected anything else.

I've got no probs with the fact its a cat c, I'm not overly worried about the mileage adjustment, but the price must reflect this...and matey was trying to blag over it, which gave me a bad feeling about the Jeep...

... as a garage owner I am in a difficult place.... example...

I bought a Nissan Almera with 11 months MoT, when we put it on the ramp we saw the front cross member was rotten to the point its about to fail and the engine will fall out, garage that MoT'd wouldn't help, so Vosa re tested and PASSED the cross member as it 'was more than 30cm from steering/suspension, they then went on to say that if I sell the car they will sue me for selling a car in a dangerous condition... WTF!

Yep, wrong on all levels...... had a right run with Vosa recently.... the ones at Plymouth seem a right bunch of jobs worths, had to have an interview with them over my 7.5 ton lorry.... she said right that's all interview over... no no I said, I have feedback for you.... went on to get documented that I received the worst customer service in 25 yrs of being in the motor trade..... prob wont do me any favours, but felt a whole load better getting that off my chest....
