courtesy light problem, Help
« on: August 01, 2012, 07:28:00 AM »

Hello from Wakefield, recently aquired a Cherokee 60th anniversary, 2.5td, went to start Monday, battery flat, recharge to find all courtesy lights on? try all switching permutations no go,remove fuse from footwell (9), still staying on, temporary remove bulbs. Sounds like a relay sticking? Excuse the pun but can anyone shed any light on this?

The light switch is also the headlight switch. Its activates the interior lights by turning it as opposed to pulling it out for the head lights.

Its a common problem for new owners, not unknown for this switch to burn out & cause issues too  :icon_winkle:

Yes. To make completely clear, if turned anti-clockwise all the way it will click and the interior lights come on. Cure by turning clockwise.

Check the bonnet light goes out  when the bonnet is closed as this is another problem where the light shorts out to permenant on and flattens the battery
