Hi

Firstly I am a newbie and my XJ is a recent purchase, it is in great original condition and I am loving it.

I am after some advice on standard tyre sizes for a 1997 Jeep Cherokee XJ with Tear Drop style alloys. Now I know that this may sound a little dumb, but there are mitigating circumstances I promise.

   1. I do not have an owners manual with the Jeep so cannot refer to that
   2. It is fitted with a mongrel set of tyres, 4 different brands all sized at 225/70R15
   3. I put the registration of the Jeep into an on-line tyre retailer and that tells me I need 225/75R15

So what is the correct size? Also what are the correct tyre pressures front and rear?

Also does anybody have any recommendations on brands? The Jeep will be used primarily on road with the odd excursion on a farm track, wet grassy field and to get me about in the snow. Annual milage will be below 5000miles.

Cheers, Bridgo.

Most people seem to say it's 225/75R15, but the build sheet for my '98 XJ Limited with the same alloys as yours says it came with 225/70R15s from the factory.

With 225/70R15 tires they should be 33psi all round.

I've got General Grabber HTS', and have no complaints after almost a year. :icon_super:

EDIT: Forgot to add - Welcome! :003:

Thanks for the prompt response to my query. I think that it may be  set of General Grabbers as the they seem ideal for the sort of use I will be putting the jeep to and they are well priced.

Regards Bridgo.

Mongrel tires?..you sure you're not an Aussie, talking like that! I am, along with a few others on here...that's exactly how I describe crappy stuff.

In any case, welcome to the forum..top bunch of blokes and birds.
