WJ heater blend doors fixed by ME today
« on: June 09, 2013, 08:22:30 PM »

Hi all, just a quick post to spread my happy news.
Using You-Tube gave me the confidence to drill into the box behind the glove box. A bit nerve racking given that the heater core is in there too.
Drivers side was blowing only cold but passenger side was ok.
Drivers blend door has a micro crack in it but enough for the motor to lose grip and spin, taking out the grip grooves in the door hinge. Took it out and screwed the door and motor spindle together.
Got a bit worried when I removed both blend doors and the passenger blend motor kept rotating and then stopped working for 10 minutes, thought it was fooked too but started again.
The drivers side blend motor wasn't working at all, don't know why, but I cracked it open and turned the cogs a bit and it started working.
Anyway, lots of duct tape later and it's all sealed and working.
Sorry for long windedness but I love a free fix ( all be it temporary ), particularly as I have just paid £230 for a new rear wiper motor  :icon_rolleyes:
Hope you're all Jeep trouble free,
Ged  :icon_jook:
