Is there a list on here of all the bulbs used in the TJ?

Wanted complete list of all bulbs, exterior and interior dash etc. I need a new high level brake one too, if I knew what they were I could source replacements or LED versions.

thought that might have been the case

try these from rock auto for part code numbers

Use the link below and scroll upwards until you see the tab for high level brake light

http://www.rockauto.co.uk/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1185285&parttype=2824&ck

High level brake light is BP921 (miniature capless bulb)

Philips supply a LED for the jeep (PHILIPS 12841) (WEB http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=us&ctn=12841B2)
plus they quote an alternative OEM number for LED of 12841B2

I use these for the underdash courtesy lights, flush fit and plenty bright.

We have courtesy lights?!

Just checked under the dash, it appears that we do. What a revelation. Just need to work out why they don't work now.

Thanks!

If the bulbs aren't blown check the IOD fuse under the hood. That fuse also supplies radio and cluster to keep station and trip mileage memory.

Same problem here. Guy came to pick up the hard top on Saturday and I noticed he had footwell lights. Checked mine and there they were albeit not working. Will check fuse but radio stations are being held so I guess it's bulbs.

I've now got footwell lights.

Passenger side had part of a bulb in the holder but the glass part was no more. Managed to remove it with some long nose plyers and new bulb in. Worked fine.

Drivers side had a bulb but the plug to the loom from the bulb holder had been disconnected. Connected again and all working perfectly. They even go out when you close the door!!!

One small point. When you pull the 10amp red fuse under the bonnet you lose all radio programming and will need to put the security code in to get things going again. Thankfully, I have the code but if you don't, be aware.

This is what I've had in those lamps for a few years now. Loads brighter than the standard bulbs and flush mount so no chance of getting broken like bulbs can in that location. A pair for less than a couple of quid off ebay.

Had a feel under the dash in the dark last night. Think the bulb holders are empty. Will stop off at Halfords on my way home. Don't suppose anybody knows what bulbs I need? Looked at the links above but can't see an actual bulb spec. Halfords don't seem to list courtesy lights.

Don't know if the bulb changed at all for later models but in our early models it's a BA15S base (Bayonet 15mm, single contact). The wattage I think is only 5W for the stock bulbs. Here you go...

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-wiper-blades-batteries/bulbs/halfords-hbu207s-5w-car-bulbs-x-2

The LEDs I posted the pic of are much brighter and you'd get them for less than halfords bulbs even from UK sellers.

Thanks Jonny.

I might get some LEDs at some point, but am horribly impatient, got a couple of spare hours this evening so want to see if I can get them working.

Had a couple of those bulbs knocking around in a drawer at home. Took two old broken bases out, new bulbs in and I have working courtesy lights. Easiest fix I've ever done on a car. Until this thread I had absolutely no idea we had them. Thanks a trillion.

Also means I have an easy place to wire the dome light in my soundbar too (currently you have to use a switch on the bar itself to turn the lights on and off).

What does the switch on the tailgate do? Doesn't seem to operate the courtesy lights?

In my TJ the plug for the soundbar was in place. There's a plastic trim on the left side behind the roll cage. If you have that there should be the pink/white wire which is the 12V supply, and a yellow wire that is grounded when either the doors are open or the headlamp switch is twisted past the detent at full dash light brightness.

If your current light is wired straight to ground rewire it to the yellow wire and leave the switch in the on position, then it will just come on with the under dash lights.

There is no OEM switch on the tailgate. There are however a pair of contacts which connect the stock center brake light to the brake light circuit when the tailgate is closed. If you have a switch it's a PO mod.

I've ordered the LED's suggested by JJ and as part of that, I've also ordered an LED bulb for the sound bar light. This creates a new question. How to get the lense off the light. I can see what appears to be a slot in the middle facing forward but a gentle attack with a fine blade screwdriver produced nothing.

The handbook just says contact dealer for any interior bulbs so what is the best way without contacting the dealer.

My sound bar is aftermarket so I don't know if these match your sound bar dome light. If so you can see the retaining tabs are two per side. Maybe push the lens towards the side you are trying to pry off to ease the strain on the tabs.

Thanks JJ.

The new bulb arrived this morning so I'll give it a go once the showers subside.

So much for the new bulb. They've sent me a festoon bulb and mines the same as your picture. What reference is that bulb so I can order an LED equivalent from the bay.

I ask because I can't read what's written on the bulb. Print is too small for my old eyes.

I can't see the pics on my mobile but I think it was a wedge bulb which would be 921 type I think. Youu can get SMD LED panels and also what's called COB LEDs that should fit in there. Those come with adapters that should for. I can post some links later if you want but it'll be around 9pm

Ok, checked on Sylvania website,  the bulb is a 906.

Back on laptop now. More digging done. Looks like 906/921 are near identical and the base is the same as W5W wedge bulbs. Something like this should do for your soundbar lamp. I have a similar (36 LED) panel in my aftermarket soundbar lamp, check dimensions to make sure whatever you buy will fit behind the lens of yours. I searched 48 5050 led panel and this is just one that came up.

T10 COB LED panel
