« on: May 09, 2006, 02:31:05 PM »

I'm filling out a membership form for a local offroad club (mostly landies and suzooks but they claim not to be snobby towards our american LR-wannabes

It's a bit of an obscure question isn't it? It's obviously aimed at the 88/90/100/109/110/130" brigade...

I can't stand the "snobbery" that some landy owners seem to have. i know a few now who have more respect for jeeps than they used to...  :D

Generally tend to gain grudging respect when you whup them in trials, though mostly they whinge 'that bloke with the Jeep must have lockers, it's not fair!'

No lockers, by the way.

Ive been to Castleford a couple of times, last time in my XJ when i lost the top off my snorkel.Found it to be full of muppets with some stupid kids driving around playing their own version of dodgems but with real vehicles, and driving down almost impossible banks.I thought it only a matter of time before someone gets killed or seriously injured.Would never go again, too dangerous as far as im concerned but if they have cleaned up their act then please let me know.

It locks the diff together to stop one wheel spinning away all the power if it is more lightly lightly loaded than the other (for example if one wheel is in the air).

Runs off a compressor (I think) and you get nice button on the dashboard to push.

That's my limited understanding from "A 4x4 is Born"...

Very nice toys I think but only really necessary for pretty extreme ofroading I would have thought.

Then go buy yourself a "Technical Lego" set of a 4x4, and build it....

Get one with a gearbox in too.....

:)

Oh, and I am serious.... then, build a trailer for it and you can even teach someone how to reverse a trailer :)
