Hello all,

My first post here, I am selling my challenge spec defender 90 details on the www.devon4x4.com site if anyone knows anyone interested, and converting to a  modded TJ when the 90 is sold.

I am looking for a truck that is already modded to a high standard, from what i can gather with 33's I will need a truck with a 3 inch lift and one inch body lift, I run 35's at the moment is it worth going this big with a jeep or should I stick with the 33's

What other mods should I be looking for in a quality truck? what manafacturers do you rate?  i intend to use it hard off road like the90 but with a 4 litre auto at my disposal....cannot wait!!

as soon as the 90 is sold i will be looking for a modded TJ so is there anyone outthere who knows of one coming up?

IMHO you'd be better buying a stockish one and mod it yourself.

At the risk of repeating myself, import everything except your winch.
There are loads of folks who can fit parts for you if you're not too hot with the spanners.

Thanks for the welcome, great site, not too handy with the spanners but getting better, sorry for making you lot repeat yourselves :?:  I intend to use it at pay and play days in the mud and the odd french event such as triangle vert for the time being, may be getting back into challenge events in years to come

My personal preferences would be:

3" Teraflex lift (fit 33"s straight under)
1" Body lift (to make the most of the articulation)
1" Motor Mounts
Detroit Softlocker in rear
Ox locker up front
Poison Spyder/Orfab front cage
Poison Spyder Rocker Knockers
Superwinch EP9i with Dyneema Synthetic Rope and wireless remote
Appropriate regear (probably 4:11's or 4:56s)
Phat Phux custom front and rear bumpers  
Phat Phux winch plate

it all depends on your budget realy. if you split your lift between body lift and suspension you can get plenty of room for 33,s without the slip yolk eliminator and expensive shaft. you will want to regear for sure. again if you get the parts and install kits yourself you will save some money on the fitting. all the folks i know well have all had stuff direct from either 4wd hardware or quadratech have saved a bundle compared to buying from uk suppliers. depending on what you want me and bubba can make you some bumpers with recovery points and receiver hitch for £100 each. if you are in the midlands or close. also ponyracer can custom fab stuff for ya if you are in his area. either way you should be able to sort a truck for less expence than some folk would have you beleive.

was looking at anything upto £10k including the truck, but wanted to end up with something similar to my 90 at the moment
