I need to replace the rear shocks for my 2001 Grand Cherokee v8 (one of the shocks is leaking oil) . I'm not using my Jeep for anything adventurous yet and to be honest its going to be tarmac and grass verges for a while yet so I was thinking of using Monroe shocks or something similar  ; any brands known to fit better or worse than others ?

 My personal opinion for a road only WJ Grand Cherokee are Bilstein B4 shocks.They give a totally different ride compared to the OE shocks (for on the road). They are not the cheapest but worth the £s.

In fact, for any car, the answer is normally Bilstiens.

Depends on your budget..I've been running Monroes for years on quite a few different vehicles with no problems at all. I've got them on my big, heavy Patrol and the ride is very smooth and stable, at any speed, on any surface.
