ok hav a 98 tj the vent setting dont work it will only blow through the screen heater? is the a mechanical or electrical fault has anyone ever had this problem?

Sounds like the linkage that works the air control flaps in the heater unit has come adrift.  Not sure about the set up on a TJ, but have a root around behind the dash.

I think they're cable operated, sometimes they jam or come unclipped.

have found the problem after stripping out the control assembly!
was just a vacuum pipe that had come off the manifold!

glad ya fixed it mate. have ya noticed heaters never play up in summer when ya dont need em. 8)
