As has been said, if the bars aren't there then they can't be tested and so not an MOT failure

Reason for Rejection     1.  A suspension component or its  attachment bracket or linkage:  missing where one is fitted as  standard   2.4 Suspension - General

My apologies, you are of course right, my comment was based on Boris passing his MOT despite my telling the tester that I'd removed the ARB.... His comment was " If it aint there then I can't fail it can I?" Not that I'm complaining but I am glad that I kept the ARB just in case it needs to be refitted for the next MOT..

Thanks for the replies folks, I'd not thought about the MOT so I'm gonna keep the arbs just incase of any probs. Got a pair of these from jeepthang: http://www.quadratec.com/products/16311_101.htm and while the XJ is off the road having the wheels, tow bar and steering guard sandblasted and painted ill get the spanners out and see how it goes. I take it the front brake hoses should be ok?

I expect it'll go a good bit further than that  :003:
I got my XJ balanced on two wheels whilst playing in a ditch the other night - at that point the rear wheel on the ground was rubbing the wheel arch, and this is with front ARB still in place.  :icon_super:
We then had to rock the Jeep so we had enough traction to get out again!  :003:

Very nice XJ by the way!

Cheers, I think I'm gonna go out and try and find a ditch and have a play, not had the jeep for 3 week so I'm itching to get out. I might go without arbs as yes it handles abit wooly but I don't drive it like a rice rocket anyway.

I'm having abit of difficulty getting the disconnects to settle. Got them fitted but they bottom out on the arch when I go over speed bumps about 25mph?? I wound them down all the way on the threads and it don't seem to have any effect.

put a photo up - they should be nowhere near your arches, unless bolts are fitted to outside and not inside

What size lift do you have and what size are the disconnects for ??? I bought disconnects and fitted them to a GC with a 2 " lift. Then I was told the disconnects were for a 4-6" lift. They do not work.

Hi Boot it

Ignore that PM I sent you earlier.

Those disconnects I sold you are for a bigger lift. If you look at the link that I sent you originally http://www.quadratec.com/products/16311_101.htm)

it states that they are for:

97-06 Wrangler TJ with 2-3.5" Lift
84-01 Cherokee XJ with 4.5-5.5" Lift
93-98 Grand Cherokee with 4.5-5.5" Lift

I wasn't aware that you only had a 2" lift.

No worries mate I didn't read the finer details. I think I should be able to get somebody to extend the threads and trim a bit more of the length off, light at the end of the tunnel and all that.
