But here's the link.

Ok, i gotcha now.

http://http://www.birtydastardsjeepclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2431

and..........

http://http://www.birtydastardsjeepclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2409[/quote]

Plus this one and the headlight cover thread

People have offered to make you one!

Mike pavelin said that a few dealers may have some in stock! (ie try ringing round some dealers).

Wait for a second hand one to turn up!

Or get an after market 'bumper swing away carrier'!

Those are your options!

I don't want to sound harsh, but i doubt the guy selling the cherokee on ebay is going to take it off and sell it seperately, but maybe worth emailing him.........you never know.

No one's going to take one off a good car, they leave big holes in the bumper and tailgate. You might find one at a breaker's though.

The one in the pic looks like some type of stock jeep carrier, if your going to run anything bigger than a 31 the weight will likely crack the the metal of the carrier and you'll be back to square one.

Either, A. leave your tire in the back. or B. have someone make you one. or C. buy a custom heavy duty one from the states (like from quadratec or 4wd)

Man what's that banging sound? Oh just that bloke beating a dead horse.

Yes, that's the Mopar carrier. I have one on mine. A bit bendy when swinging open with a 31" on a steel cragar but ok when closed up.

Mine was fitted to the Jeep by the dealer from new. It's the Genuine Jeep accessory one. It was only produced to fit pre '97 models so of yours is a facelift XJ it won't fit properly. It's no longer available new, but if you keep an eye on Ebay and hassle all the 4x4 breakers, you'll come up with one eventually. Make sure you get all the bits, including the brackets that reinforce the rear bumper and the plates that go on the tailgate.
If you have a towbar, Specialist Liesure make one that bolts to the two big towhitch fixings, which might be an easier option.

Here's the tow bar type that the good Dr. speaks of.

It is also from specialist liesure.

Can't take the wheel off cos i've just had surgery and my guts'll burst out of my belly button if I lift anything heavy!
I'll stick up a pic of it opened out, and you'll get the idea.
