it could be transmission has it gets hot and the fluid runs to the back of the sytem.
the hills you talk about are steep check where the tc meets the autobox you can get leeks there as the main output seals can fail and leek when the truck is on an incline

...especially if it somehow gets thrown onto, or leaks onto a hot exhaust pipe.
