I recently stripped my steering box and replaced the seals on the output shaft. The shaft was a bit corroded, presumably there had been some moisture in the system at some point, but I cleaned it up to get a smooth surface. Unfortunately there is some pitting and I think it is causing a small leak still. Does anyone know where I can source a new output shaft?
I would also urge anyone who is considering doing this job themselves to have a go, it's not that hard. The only bit that required outside assistance was the loan of a hydraulic puller to get the pitman arm off. After that it was basic meccano mechanics.
