How easy/hard is it to remove the complete wing from a TJ please? Any tips welcome,we dont have to be careful with the wing as have replacements to fit

4 bolts down the bulkhead
That are a beitch to get at, use extensions of various lengths and a UJ thing......and what made it easy as anything ......was an air ratchet otherwise there is hardly any room to use a hand ratchet


Alternate idea use disc cutter to remove inner wing section so you can see the bolts on the bulkhead.....

Bolts are 1/2" AF
Ones down grill shell are easy as you can see them.

Bear in mind this is for left hand drive so ours will be a bit different but here's the description from the FSM...

RIGHT FENDER REMOVAL

(1) Disconnect and remove the battery.
(2) Remove the air cleaner housing.
(3) Remove the bolts attaching the Power Distribution Center (PDC) to the fender.
(4) Disengage the PDC wire harness retainers on the battery tray and fender.
(5) Move and secure the PDC.
(6) Disengage the high pressure air conditioning line retainer on the fender.
(7) Disengage the front end lighting wire harness retainers on the fender.
(8 ) Remove the battery tray.
(9) Disengage the battery temperature sensor connector.
(10) Disengage the vacuum line at the reservoir under the battery tray reinforcement bracket.
(11) Disengage the headlamp wire connector.
(12) Route the fog lamp (if equipped), park lamp and side marker wire harness through the access hole in the fender well.
(13) If equipped, remove the fender flare extension and body side molding (Fig. 14).
(14) Remove the bolts attaching the fender to the cowl (Fig. 15).
(15) Remove the bolts attaching the fender to the battery tray reinforcement bracket.
(16) Remove the bolts attaching the fender to the grille.
(17) Separate the fender from the vehicle.

LEFT FENDER REMOVAL

(1) Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.
(2) Remove the windshield washer reservoir.
(3) Disengage horn wire connectors.
(4) Remove horns.
(5) Remove EVAP canister.
(6) Remove the bolts attaching the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) to the support tray.
(7) Secure the HCU.
(8 ) Remove the HCU tray.
(9) Disengage the front end lighting wire harness retainers on the fender.
(10) Disengage the headlamp wire connector.
(11) Route the fog lamp (if equipped), park lamp and side marker wire harness through the access hole in the fender well.
(12) If equipped, remove the body side molding (Fig. 14).
(13) Remove the bolts attaching the fender to the cowl (Fig. 15).
(14) Remove the bolts attaching the fender to the HCU tray reinforcement bracket.
(15) Remove the bolts attaching the fender to the grille.
(16) Separate the fender from the vehicle.

think the disc cutter plan might be the one to follow.....

So translated we get:
Open bonnet and take herds of photos of where everything is meant to go!
Remove everything off fender that comes off
Stuff that only comes loose to be tied safely out the way
Spray all revealed fasteners with penetrating oil
Have tea break while oil does its stuff
Remove fasteners from front wheel arch where grille attaches
Put vertical slit in fender, 25 to 50mm in front of tub joint but avoiding all gubbins still inside or attached
Remove fender which is now hopefully sitting on top of front wheel
Remove 4 bolts holding remains of fender to tub
Treat for rust, repaint as required etc etc
Reassembly is by common sense and therefore not the reverse of removal, but relies heavily on the photos taken in step 1

All maintenance conducted using the above guide is entirely at your own risk!

Its not that bad and the only issue I suffered from is the battery bracket is a pain. Never needed to cut mine but a little tiny ratchet helped tremendously.

Old wings off,wasnt as bad as we thought it might be.Some bolts just spun but the angle grinder earned its keep,and also cut away outer wing in part to get to some of the bolts.Replacements primed and inners hammerited,and chassis cleaned up ready to bolt them on tomorrow.Would have done it today but on the way to Robs i had to do an emergency stop and blew out the piston in the rear cylinder and lost braking on the van

Why didnt you paint the fenders indoors before fitting them, are you afraid of your missus or something?

I prepared and primed them and we undersealed the inners but need to get the paint for the outers so unable to do them today,i dont have a missus to worry about  .Green oval is Panics
